ICT: The 5th Software Freedom Day announced for September 18



It will be held at the Palais des Sports in Yaounde in the presence of Minister of Posts and Telecommunications

For the fifth time, after the editions of 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, the association PROTEGE QV (Promotion of Technologies that Guarantee Environment and Quality of Life) organizes Software Freedom Day (SFD). This "Software Freedom Day" will be held at the Palais des congrès de Yaoundé September 18, 2010 from 8:30 to 18. It is under the theme "Free Software, an opportunity for your company." The ceremony should be chaired by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Jean Pierre Biyiti Bi Essam. "We have already received the approval of the Minister 'reassured Balbine Tsafack, member of the organizing committee of the SFD 2010. This edition will consist of two lectures and two workshops. The first conference theme, "The challenges of deploying an open source integrated enterprise." When the second conference, the theme will be "the impact of the integration of FOSS in education. "The two workshops will focus respectively on" The installation, configuration and use of free software company Integrated Management "and" how to choose your platform content management (CMS) . These various studies should enable managers to better manage their business structures through the use of free software; pupils and students to better assimilate their courses through some free software, the various participants to create websites with systems, content management (cms) free.

Software Freedom Day

The SFD is not an invention of Cameroon. It represents the celebration or
World Day of Free Software and Open Source. It was organized for the first time August 28, 2004, by the Software Freedom International (SFI), a nonprofit organization, in the presence of more than 70 teams. Since then, the event has grown in popularity and is now celebrated by more than 400 teams of volunteers in over 100 countries worldwide. In Cameroon, the team has taken the initiative to celebrate the NGO is PROTEGE QV, a Cameroonian law association whose primary mission the promotion of individual or collective initiatives aimed at protecting environment and improving the quality of life. The SFD has three objectives: to inform the public about the technical benefits, and ethical practices of free software and the global; contribute to the development of free software, communicating to an audience of individuals and professionals on opportunities it offers today and allowing his actors to meet, promote local use of free software, which requires skills to enable local exposure.
