2010: the end of haute couture? My resolutions

That's the question I asked this morning in The Sun . A month

after the announcement of the house of Christian Lacroix to end his department sewing, tumultuous and fragile fashion world still seems shaken.

Especially because, within two or three years, several major designers of luxury homes founders retire. Oscar de la Renta is 77 years, Karl Lagerfeld and Giorgio Armani 76 years to 75 years. We know in the past, the succession has not always been easy.

There remain optimistic, for luck. As people of CHANEL, which provide a positive assessment of 2009 and expect to increase their sales in 2010. I sincerely wish them.

I think high fashion is an art in itself. This is the essence even fashion design. Where all the excess and audacity are allowed. It has its raison d'etre.

But it is also an area that needs to be renewed. For that, I say welcome to the falls a bit irreverent style popcorn with Issey Miyake and Martin Margiela in mind!

Long live fashion in 2010!

And you, do you like high fashion? If you were offered a creative, how to fashion house lean?

(me, I hesitate between a Balenciaga jacket, a dress or an Armani Chanel suit! Sacred dilemma!)

PS The National Museum of Fine Arts in Quebec starting in February will present an exhibition on the golden age of haute couture. Must See!
